Aventura-based Nearpod and Miami-based EcoSystems have been selected to join Endeavor Miami, the local affiliate of Endeavor Global.

Through the accelerator’s worldwide network, the companies will begin receiving services to scale, including mentoringship and access to capital, global markets and talent.

The local startups underwent a rigorous selection process via Endeavor’s 79th International Selection Panel in Louisville, Kentucky from May 7-9, where panels composed of business leaders and investors interviewed candidates about their business model. They were required to receive a unanimous vote from the interviewers, which included Endeavor Miami Board Co-chair Daniel Echavarria.

Nearpod, once dubbed the most well-funded startup among education technology companies, uses a combination of software and multimedia to provide teachers with improved ways to communicate their curriculum, coupled with real-time student feedback.

“Joining Endeavor seemed like a natural next step for Nearpod as we continue to grow,” said Guido Kovalskys, CEO of Nearpod. “We are excited to interact with other Endeavor Entrepreneurs and mentors worldwide and take full advantage of Endeavor’s impressive network.”

EcoSystems is a water conservation company whose methods have saved more than 2 billion gallons of freshwater and $15 million in utility costs.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this global organization and gain access to its resources worldwide to grow our company even faster,” said Richard Lamondin, CEO of EcoSystems.

Richard Lamondin and his brother Lawrence Lamondin have been invited to join the program, along with Nearpod’s Kovalskys and his co-founders Felipe Sommer and Emiliano Abramzon.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these five co-founders to the Endeavor family. We’re looking forward to seeing great things come out of Nearpod and EcoSystems,” said Laura Maydón, managing director of Endeavor Miami.

With its newest additions, Endeavor Miami supports a total of 21 companies and 37 entrepreneurs. It launched in 2013 with the help of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as the first U.S. affiliate of Endeavor Global and its entrepreneurs in 2017 generated nearly $130 million in revenues and 1,600 jobs in South Florida.

“The selection of these two companies truly showcase the strength and diversity of South Florida’s ecosystem across industries,” Maydón said.

Endeavor Global is headquartered in New York City and operates in 27 countries throughout Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. It was established in 1997 and seeks out high-impact entrepreneurs around the world to join its program. To date, it has screened more than 47,000 entrepreneurs and selected 80 companies within its ranks.
